Camino Branches for 0.8
Tuesday April 27th, 2004
Lead Camino developer Mike Pinkerton has announced that a branch has been created for Camino 0.8. A beta and final release of the native Mac OS X browser will come from this branch, both based on Mozilla 1.7. The beta is expected in a couple of weeks. Developer Ludovic Hirlimann is appealing for translators to translate Camino 0.8 after the beta release.
While I'm not a mac user (yeah, I wish I was), I'm glad Camino is on track for a new release. It seems Camino fills the gap in a niche void for a lot of mac users, and version 0.8 should put it back on top.
I went to the project page to take a look at how it stacks up to the Pinstripe theme in the Mac look. But I found that none of the mozilla.org pages have many (if any) screenshots. And Thunderbird's single shot is at an angle and impossible to really see. So, I know looks aren't everything but for many that is important. Any chance we will see more screenshots?
You may see some screenshots at <http://awiebe.blogdns.net/blog/> as long as you don't slashdot me :)

Camino is still one of the best browsers for Mac OS X- I love using it. My only beef is that the real player plugin is buggy- but I think that has more to do with real than anyone else.
I look forward to the next release!
