I would like to know the number of updates that have been made on the 1.5.0.x branch - for example; how many updates were made from 1.5.0.3 to 1.5.0.4?

Well obviously. I would imagine he meant how many times the update was downloaded (as an update, which is excluded from the main download count, rather than when people download it themselves from the ftp/website). A blog http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/schrep/archives/2006/02/over_21m_served.html reported 21M update downloads in the first day of 1.5.0.1, but I don't recall seeing any more recent numbers...
