How To Modify Hidden Preferences Using about:config
Adding New Preferences

Enter about:config in the Location Bar to display the list of user preferences.

Open the context menu of any of these preferences.

From the New submenu, select the type of preference you wish to create. Choose String if its value will be textual, Integer if it will be a number, or Boolean if it will be either true or false.

Enter the name of the preference in the dialogue that follows. Be careful to get it right.

Enter the value of the preference in the next dialogue.

- Note that some preferences will require a restart to take effect.
Editing Existing Preferences

Enter about:config in the Location Bar to display the list of user preferences.

Open the context menu of the preference you wish to edit and select the Modify command.

Modify the value of the preference in the subsequent dialogue.
